The Blyth and Wansbeck Walking and Cycling map adjoins the Tyneside Cycling map to the North and into Northumberland.
A partnership venture between Blyth Valley Borough Council, Wansbeck District Council and the Northumberland Health Action Zone, the map includes suggested rides and attractive local walks.
The project started as a result of GPs recommending patients to take regular exercise at the local sports centre in Cramlington. Staff soon ran out of suitable rides and the idea of a map was born.
Following a successful launch, the map is now being used in community health projects and for safe routes to schools programmes.
